Spartanburg, S.C., June 14, 2006 – Indera Mills, one of the largest suppliers of thermal underwear products in the U.S., has introduced a new generation of performance thermal underwear, combining odor control with moisture management.

Marketed under the Indera Mills brand as well as private label, the new underwear is available in men’s, women’s and children’s sizes in a variety of constructions and colors. The new products, which were launched in January, are beginning to appear on the shelves of mass merchants and farm-supply stores.

"We introduced thermal underwear with moisture management more than five years ago, which has been very successful," said John Willingham, president of Indera Mills, a 92-year-old company based in Yadkinville, N.C. "Our new lines, which combine odor control with moisture management, are a natural progression in our focus on performance."

Indera Mills’ new line is the first thermal underwear to incorporate HydroPur® Fiber technology from DAK Americas. Dual-function HydroPur polyester staple fiber combines the proven moisture management of DAK Americas’ Delcron® Hydrotec Fiber with the antimicrobial properties of DAK’s SteriPur® AM, which contains antimicrobial AlphaSan® from Milliken & Company.

Independent laboratory tests have shown that HydroPur Fiber exhibits significant moisture management while inhibiting odors and stains caused by microorganisms. Moisture management and antimicrobial properties are integrated into the fiber during polymer formation, which makes them a permanent part of the fiber.

"We incorporated HydroPur into our new performance product line because it is effective, permanent and available at a very competitive price point," Willingham said. "In addition, the AlphaSan silver technology allows for superior dyeing characteristics, resulting in an attractive product."

Indera’s performance thermal line is designed to appeal to all levels of thermal users. The product mix ranges from underwear that is knitted from 100 percent HydroPur fibers for the active person, to a two-layer wool product with HydroPur on the inside for consumers who want to stay warm in less active situations.

"Our new line of performance thermal underwear represents the collaboration of Milliken and DAK Americas for innovating a fiber with built-in antimicrobial and moisture management properties," Willingham said. "In addition, Carolina Mills spins the fiber into yarn and Indera Mills knits the fabric, constructs the garments and markets the finished products. This supply chain has been essential to our success."

Indera Mills, incorporated in 1914, is one of the three largest suppliers of thermal underwear in the U.S. Focusing exclusively on thermal underwear and winterweight rib underwear for men, women and children, the company is based in Yadkinville, N.C., with sewing facilities in Monterrey, Mexico. www.inderamills.com

DAK Americas, headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alpek S.A. de C.V., the petrochemicals and synthetic fibers business group of Alfa S.A. de C.V. DAK Americas is comprised of three units – Resins (PET), Fibers (Polyester Staple) and Monomers (TPA ingredients). Alfa is one of Mexico’s largest industrial corporations having operations in nine countries in the Americas and Europe with 2005 revenue in excess of $5 billion and 38,000 employees. www.dakamericas.com

Milliken & Company is one of the world’s largest privately held textile and chemical corporations.
