Dri-release® with FreshGuard® is Good Medicine
Wilmington, DE July 27, 2006 If you were to suffer from tired, aching legs, minor ankle and foot swelling or other venous insufficiencies, most likely your doctor would instruct you to wear prescription level compression hosiery regularly and consistently. Different than over-the-counter supportwear, these therapeutic medical legwear products are engineered, high spandex-containing knits made with cotton, nylon and silicone. That is, until now.
BSN medical, a leader in the worldwide healthcare market manufactures the JOBST® brand of medical compression stockings for the care and management of venous and lymphatic diseases. JOBST, the number one physician recommended brand of medical compression hosiery in the U.S., has just introduced a new ActiveWear sock to its line pairing Dri-release with FreshGuard and spandex. The new sock dries faster and keeps the foot cooler and fresher while still providing therapeutic benefits.
Well known in the active sports arena since its introduction into the running market in 2000, Dri-release with FreshGuard has been adopted by several other markets looking for top moisture management performance coupled with a natural look and feel. The quick-dry feature of Dri-release also helps cool the body, making it ideal for sleepwear (particularly for menopause sufferers), travelwear and even children’s clothes.
“When you envision a product that must promote active, healthy lifestyles, the characteristics of comfort, quick-dry, odor control, and coolness are very significant”, says Kurt Larsen, senior global marketing manager for BSN medical.
A patented, intimate blend of synthetic and natural fibers that accelerates the water release rate of wet fabric, Dri-release is lighter than cotton and dries four times as fast, yet looks and feels like cotton next to the skin. It also contains FreshGuard, a built-in odor neutralizer that won’t wash out.
Larsen reports that the new Dri-release ActiveWear sock is a runaway success. “The market performance of the product has exceeded our highest expectations”, he says. The JOBST product development staff is now looking at the possibility of adding more colors and styles to their Dri-release offering.
In tests, special sensors were placed on wearers’ heels and toes before donning the JOBST ActiveWear with Dri-release sock and competitive products using alternative moisture management yarns. 10 minutes after putting on shoes and 10 minutes after completing a prescribed workout, the feet wearing the JOBST ActiveWear with Dri-release sock were an average of 13%-14% cooler in temperature. This comfort technology plus an extra cushioned foot and seamless toe make it ideal for various activities from walking to playing sports.
Though, like other JOBST compression hosiery products from BSN medical, an FDA compliant manufacturer, ActiveWear with Dri-release will deliver the same physician recommended gradient compression to improve blood flow, help prevent swelling and provide continuous relief from tired, aching legs in the same manner, Larsen says its new look and feel is helping pique interest among new target groups. It’s performance sports sock styling make it stand out against the usual compression hosiery ‘dress’ socks in today’s market. It is also softer, loftier, and more flexible, making it easier to put on.
JOBST compression hosiery, bandages and other therapeutic products are sold through medical equipment suppliers throughout North America and Europe. For more information go to www.JOBST-usa.com <http://www.jobst-usa.com> or call customer service at (800) 537-1063.
