The Hosiery Association Announces New Legislative/Regulatory Relations Committee
Stepping Up Collectively To Address Members’ Needs

Charlotte, NC: Keeping in step with the needs of its members, The Hosiery Association (THA) took action to ensure its membership has a voice in the volatile political environment affecting the legwear industry. At its bi-annual meeting last week, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve the formation of the Legislative/Regulatory Relations Committee. The Board also voted to dissolve the Global Manufacturers Committee (GMC) and the USA Domestic Manufacturers Committee - two committees with a five-year history of successes on behalf of THA members. The Board’s move comes at a time of uncertainty related to the industry in Washington DC and highlights THA’s desire to be proactive in its approach to the legislative and regulatory issues impacting its membership. THA called upon two of its respected and knowledgeable members Kevin Toomey, president and CEO of Golden Lady/Kayser-Roth s.p.a. and Bill Sheely, executive vice president of operations, GoldToeMoretz LLC, to head up this new committee.

"We operate in a competitive yet collaborative business environment,” stated Toomey. “The advent of this newly formed committee gives all of us the opportunity to work together to achieve mutual goals through our legislators. As with any effort, the more support and involvement we can garner from our member companies, the more successful we can be in influencing results. I view this committee as one with the responsibility to serve the interests of the industry as a whole with a focus on the key issues which we must face. I look forward to the challenge and to involving others in the process."

“It is important for this Association and its leadership to continuously bring value to the membership,” offered Sheely. “Aside from representing the industry in Washington, this committee will inform our membership on pending legislative activity that impacts our businesses. I believe this working group is a very good step in demonstrating to state and federal policy makers that the industry can speak with a single voice on key issues and that The Hosiery Association is that voice.”
