New Year….New Membership Services
During the past year, The Hosiery Association’s (THA) staff, officers and Board of Directors have worked diligently to position this organization in such a manner that it continues to offer value to its membership and remain a viable entity. Industry volatility creates an environment in which businesses must manage themselves effectively and efficiently. THA membership is an investment in our industry’s future.
Last year, THA helped create renewed awareness and excitement in products through appearances on the Today Show and interviews such as the U.S. Today article. These types of activities your membership supports sales enabled growth of our products last year in a very challenging retail environment. THA will continue to be sensitive to the changing demands of the market and capitalizing our strength on common issues to provide maximum value for our membership. The following services and products offered by THA will support your business requirements and proactively promote our industry.
A Statistical Program, which includes global production and shipment data, as well as a newly tailored consumer insight survey that captures information on all types of legwear. This information is vital in analyzing the industry and interfacing with retailers.
The Hosiery Technology Center (HTC) is empowered by THA’s support to serve as the industry spokes entity for standards and testing procedures. HTC provides real value for THA members such as assisting with WRAP Certification and their interactions with outside testing entities such as CTL, TRL, MTL and others. Additionally, the HTC will direct the programs of the Standards Committee.
Federal and State Government Relations will remain proactive, consistent and professionally executed. There are numerous issues aside from trade that the industry needs to be aware of and keep their legislators cognizant of the industry’s position on them. Additionally, a new product law service addressing environmental issues, i.e. REACH and Proposition 65 has been organized.
Industry Communications will enable THA to establish itself with the members, industry, retailers, consumers and media as the “Go To” place for information. The initiative will encompass sheer hosiery, socks and seamless. Its goal is to educate the retailer and the consumer through its communication vehicles including but not limited to Hosiery News, Hosiery Insider and the new website.
Networking and educational programs will remain a key element and available on a frequent basis in a variety of options.
We hope you are as excited as we are about the changes and additions THA is making in its efforts to better serve its members. We need each and every one of you to remain active with us in making THA a world-class organization respected by all. We thank you in advance for your continued support as we work together to ensure the future of our industry and The Hosiery Association.
Sincerely,
Bruce Duncan
