The Fashion Round-Up : Fall 2008                      by Karen Koza

The tents at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week have been disassembled and the fashionistas, models, editors and buyers have moved on to Europe for the London and Milan collections. Left in Fashion Weeks’s wake is a decisive list of key trends for the Fall 2008 ready to wear presentations and the Hosiery Insider is pleased to offer you an inside peek at what the most stylish of women will be wearing next season (go ahead, put on your sunglasses and pretend you’re in the front row, we won’t tell).

Coming down the catwalks……..and fashionable sidewalks everywhere this fall are these notable trends:

  • Cut and Paste
Silhouettes will be shapely and there are generous cuts to jackets and bottoms. Expect to see full wide leg trousers with a slightly higher waistline. Jackets boast interesting details with plenty of fullness at the neck and in the sleeves. Think full. Think bold.

  • Royal Flush
Fall may be all about the ambers and golds in nature, but fashion for Fall 2008 is all about the jewel tones of blues, purples, grays and magentas. Key looks for fall include shades of this color palette worn together for a polished look.

  • Plaid to See You
Tartans and checks abound this autumn. But it’s not the old school girl look of yesteryear. Fall 2008 plaid is all grown up and ready for its preview.

  • Putting It in Print
Safari, animal, botanical and floral prints abound. Forget Spring as the season of print; Fall 2008 claims its own mix of color and splash.

  • You’re the Man
While fashions remain decidedly feminine for fall, they carry a distinct influence from menswear. A well tailored pant with a full leg will be on every fashionable woman’s must-have list for this fall.

  • Vested Interest
Go sleeveless, seems to be the urging from the catwalks. While some sweaters and jackets boasted full sleeves, many other looks may be noted for the sheer absence of sleeves. In a nod to the 80’s, a true vested look (including a belt) is in the cards for next season.

So what’s the good news, hosiery insiders? Accessories are big in a, well, big way and hosiery is an important part of that movement. Layering continues and textured, patterned and shimmery sheers and knits were front and center on the runways.

So you’ve got a leg up on fashions for fall, hosiery insiders. Step lively!
