New Name for Hosiery Technology Center?

At its recent meeting, the Catawba Valley Community College Board of Trustees approved a five-year Strategic Plan recommended by college administration.

Developed by the faculty, staff and administration, the plan articulates the college's role in the community and its objectives with timelines for each initiative.

"This document will help guide us and ensure the college's success in the coming years," trustee chair Stephen Neuville said in a release.

Trustees also approved renaming the CVCC Hosiery Technology Center to the Center For Emerging Manufacturing Services. The center will expand on the Hosiery Technology Center's 18-year record of helping the hosiery industry.

"Expanding this concept to other industries gives us the opportunity to have a greater impact on our regional economy," CVCC President Garrett Hinshaw said in a release.

"We've shared our plans with many local executives, and they are excited about the possibilities. They are also excited about the potential it holds for our region's economic development."
